MYA FIFIELD, BENJAMIN RAND ARE OCTOBER STUDENTS OF THE MONTH

WESTFORD -- Mya Fifield of Chelmsford and Benjamin Rand of Shirley are October’s Students of the Month at Nashoba Tech.
Mya Fifield, daughter of Brady and Valerie Bennett of Chelmsford, is a sophomore in a nontraditional technical program, Automotive Technology. She is an honor-roll student who competes for the basketball and spring track teams. She said she chose Auto Tech because it will provide a good future for her. She plans to attend college after graduation to solidify her skills.
Mya was nominated by Fine Arts/Programming & Web Development Instructor Robin Monaco, who called her a “hidden gem” of the school. “Mya is one of the most reliable, trustworthy and hard-working students I have,” Monaco wrote. “We are working remotely, and when students are having issues, I can rely on Mya to help them out. She freely volunteers her time so that other students will not get behind, and works with them to resolve their issues. She is a great help to everyone — students and teachers alike.”

Benjamin Rand, son of Brian and Susan Rand of Shirley, is a sophomore in the Engineering Technology program. He is an honor-roll student who enjoys studying engineering because he would like one day to be a municipal engineer and design buildings.
Benjamin was nominated by English Instructor David DeSantis, who wrote: “Ben has consistently turned in exceptional work with exceptional effort all year. He was in my homeroom last year so I got to know him, and he was very polite and attentive. This year, it’s a pleasure to have him in class. He’s an absolutely tenacious academic rock-star in the virtual classroom. His strong work ethic and positive attitude will be great assets no matter what he does in the future.”
