WESTFORD – Dr. Denise Pigeon, Superintendent of the Nashoba Valley Technical High School District, has received the prestigious President’s Award from the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents.
Pigeon was honored for her work most recently on the Massachusetts Graduation Council, created by Gov. Maura Healey to form a statewide high-school graduation framework designed to ensure that every student in Massachusetts graduates prepared for college, careers and civic life.
“I’m honored to be recognized by my peers,” Pigeon said. “I’m happy to serve on the Graduation Council as a voice for regional career and technical education as the state contemplates new graduation standards.”
The plaque reads that Pigeon received the President’s Award “in recognition of your outstanding contribution to education.”
“The Nashoba Tech School Committee and the NT family are very proud of Dr. Pigeon’s statewide recognition,” School Committee Chair Charlie Ellis said. Pigeon took over the Nashoba Tech district in February 2016 after being selected by the School Committee to replace Dr. Judith Klimkiewicz, who retired after 20 years leading Nashoba Tech.
Before that, Pigeon was principal of Nashoba Tech since 2010 after starting as the director of curriculum in 2005.
In addition to her work with the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents, Pigeon has served as president of the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators, as well as president of the Merrimack Valley Superintendents Roundtable. She is currently on the board of the Massachusetts Association of Regional Schools.
Though classes ended on June 17, Pigeon is excited to gear up over the summer to start her 11th year at the helm and 22nd year overall at Nashoba Tech.
