Miguel Montalvo of Ayer and Janiyah Taveras of Littleton have been selected as the September Athletes of the Month at Nashoba Tech.
Miguel is a senior four-year starter and captain for the Vikings, helping the team make it to the MIAA Division 8 state semifinals in 2024 and finish the year 10-1. He is a freshman mentor and has been inducted into both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. He is in the Health Assisting program and this year is taking early-college classes to get a jump on his nursing career.
Miguel was nominated by Health Assisting instructor Milaina Mainieri, who wrote: “Miguel is balancing early college, football and mentoring with work at a pediatric skilled nursing facility. He loves his job and works with complex patients who are dependent on the staff for all of their needs. Miguel has a cheerful attitude and greets everyone in a friendly manner, holding himself to a high standard.”
Janiyah Taveras is a sophomore on the cheer squad. She was nominated by her coaches. Janiyah is also in the Health Assisting program.
Isabella Dias wrote that she is “a great team player, very helpful with the other kids on the cheerleading team and is always on time and ready to go for practices and games.”
Christine Patenaude wrote: “Janiyah has come full circle from freshman year. She has been a positive role model for all athletes on the team. She shows up at every practice on time and ready to put in the work. She loves her sport and goes above and beyond to improve her skills.”
