GREGORY CARMEL, DOUGLASS HALL ARE OCTOBER ATHLETES OF THE MONTH

Gregory Carmel of Chelmsford (pictured) and Douglas Hall of Groton have been selected as October’s Athletes of the Month at Nashoba Tech.

Gregory Carmel, son of Jeff and Lynne Carmel, is a senior on the golf team and also plays lacrosse for the Vikings. He currently works for Catalano Construction in Westford through Nashoba Tech’s Cooperative Education program, and he plans to start his own construction business after graduation.

Greg was nominated by golf coach Sayda Betsold, who wrote: “Though it was Greg’s first year with the team, his performance qualified him to participate in the end-of-season tournaments. He demonstrated being a true Viking at the state Vocational Golf Tournament on October 5 when an opponent in his group was hit in the head by a golf ball and passed out. Greg did not hesitate and was at the golfer’s side in seconds. His quick action and calm manner helped reassure the athlete that he was going to be OK. I am beyond proud of Greg and how he handled a very chaotic and stressful situation.”

Douglas Hall, son of Shawn and Liz Hall, is a senior in the Engineering Technology program. He is a midfielder for the soccer team and also competes in spring track for the Vikings in the 400-meter run, triple jump and high jump. He hopes to attend college and continue his soccer career.

Doug was nominated by coach Mark DiCicco, who wrote: “Doug is a four-year starter and captain. He is a two-time team MVP and is always the most talented player on the field no matter what team we are playing.”
