WESTFORD — The three students who make up the Viking Theatre Club’s Executive Board at Nashoba Tech — seniors Emily Hogan of Dracut and Finn McMaster of Chelmsford, and junior Abigail Poor — as well as Jayson Ducharme of Chelmsford have been named February’s Students of the Month.

Emily, Finn and Abigail are all in the TV & Media Production/Theatre Arts program, all three are involved behind the scenes in an upcoming production of “Aladdin” at Theatre at the Mount at Mt. Wachusett Community College, and all were nominated by Viking Theatre Club adviser Emily Smith.

In her nomination, Smith wrote: “This team has worked tirelessly to plan activities and fundraise for the fall production of ‘Xanadu’ while also being integral to the production. Abigail had the lead role, Finn had a supporting role, and Emily was the company stage manager. They are all strong leaders, helping their peers both on and off stage, and helping to recruit and welcome the new freshmen into the organization. They are always prepared in rehearsals and are also leaders in the classroom, consistently at the tops of their respective classes, and always with a smile.”

Emily, whose parents are Tom and Barbara Hogan of Dracut, is a high-honors student and a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. She is president of the Viking Theatre Club and received the award for Technical Excellence in Directing by the Massachusetts Theatre Guild. For the second year in a row, Emily won a gold medal in the SkillsUSA District Competition in Digital Cinema Production and will go on to compete in the State Conference. She plans to attend Emerson College.

Finn, whose parents are James and Angela McMaster of Chelmsford, is a high-honors student and secretary of the Theatre Club. Finn earned a bronze medal in the SkillsUSA State Conference as a junior in Career Pathways Showcase: Arts & Communication. Finn directed a production of “Godspell” at St. John the Evangelist Church in Chelmsford and is a member of the Newspaper Club at Nashoba Tech.

Abigail, whose parents are John and Pamela Poor of Chelmsford, is an honor-roll student, vice president of the Theatre Club, a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, and is taking a class at Mt. Wachusett Community College through Dual Enrollment. She received a gold medal in Digital Cinema Production at the SkillsUSA District Conference and will go on to compete at the State Conference.

Ducharme Feb SOM
Jayson Ducharme, son of Fred and Pamm Ducharme, is a senior in the Culinary Arts program. He is an honor-roll and was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society as a junior. Jayson has volunteered to play an active role in every cooking competition in which Culinary Arts competes, including for the team that placed third in the recent statewide ProStart Invitational at Gillette Stadium, and second at the Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce’s Taste of Nashoba. He has been accepted to, and plans to attend, the Culinary Institute of Michigan.

Jayson was nominated by Chef-Instructors Jeremy Bussiere and Carley Capraro. Bussiere wrote: “He worked hard and spent extra time preparing and participating in the Culinary ProStart competition. Jayson has done a great job stepping up in a leadership role and has been very helpful in the absence of Chef Zentgraf.” Capraro wrote: “Jayson is always volunteering for extra events. With Chef Zentgraf gone, he has been a huge help organizing the line and making sure everything gets done. He is an amazing Culinary Arts student with an amazing work ethic and talent.”
