Jenna Thompson, a senior from Littleton, and Casey White, a senior from Shirley, have been selected as Aprils Students of the Month at Nashoba Tech.

Jenna Thompson, daughter of Peter and Marya Thompson, is a senior in the Culinary Arts program. She is a high-honors student and has been inducted into both the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. This year, she served as treasurer of the National Technical Honor Society. Jenna competes in SkillsUSA, earning a gold medal this spring at the District Conference in Commercial Baking and a second place at the State Competition in April.

Jenna is a freshman mentor, helping incoming students acclimate themselves to Nashoba Tech. She is also a member of the Newspaper Club and Horticulture Club, as well as the cross-country and spring track teams. She has been accepted to and plans to attend, the Culinary Institute of America in New York City to study Baking & Pastry and Business.

Jenna was nominated by two teachers. Culinary Arts Chef/Instructor Carley Capraro wrote: “Jenna has gone above and beyond in the Culinary Department, helping in every area she can. She was a part of the team for the Taste Of Nashoba contest, winning first place this year. She also placed first at SkillsUSA, receiving a gold medal and even received a perfect score. She is always willing to help out in the kitchen in every way possible, from planning desserts to trying a new vegan recipe. She is always exploring the world of culinary. She is always polite, kind and caring to everyone in Culinary.”

English Instructor Bruce Sullivan wrote: “Jenna is a leader in my Advanced Placement English class, and writes at a high college level both in class and for the Viking Voice school newspaper. Her leadership also serves her well as captain of both the cross-country and track and field teams.”

Casey White, son of Brian White and Meghan Guthrie, is a senior in the Plumbing & Heating program. He is an honor-roll student and in April was named Nashoba Tech’s recipient of the Plumbing All-Star Award, given by the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors of Massachusetts. He received a $500 scholarship and a $200 Massachusetts Plumbing and Gas Code Book, as well as multiple hand tools used in the plumbing and heating industry.

He plans to enter the workforce upon graduation and has been working, through Nashoba Tech’s Cooperative Education program, for his father’s plumbing business, BK White Plumbing & Heating.

Casey was nominated by Plumbing & Heating Instructor Robert Brazeau, who wrote: “It’s a pleasure to recommend Casey White as Student of the Month. Casey has excelled in the Plumbing program for the past 3 1/2 years and will be continuing on after graduation to work in his dad’s plumbing and heating business. Casey certainly deserves the recognition.”
