Hannah Peters of Pepperell is Nashoba Tech's nominee for the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators’ Outstanding Vocational Technical Student Award.
Each technical school in the state nominates a student for the award based on grades, leadership, participation and success in their technical program.
Hannah, daughter of Jeff Peters and Debbie Gattenby, is a senior in the Veterinary Assisting program. She is a high-honors student who will be inducted into the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society this spring.
Hannah works full time, through the Cooperative Education program, during her technical week at the in-school Angell at Nashoba Animal Clinic and worked there all last summer in the midst of the pandemic. She is certified for Canine and Feline CPR and First Aid, is Fear Free certified, and is working toward becoming a Certified Veterinary Assistant. She volunteers at MSPCA Nevins Farm, helping at spay and neuter clinics, and has volunteered for several years at Preventative Veterinary Medicine Clinic in Pepperell. She also volunteers at Pepperell Senior Center, Pepperell Garden Club and Friends of Nashoba fundraisers.
Hannah plans to continue her veterinary training and hopes to major in Animal Science. Though she has not yet made a decision on college, her top choices are the University of Rhode Island and the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
“I’m truly honored to be nominated for this award,” Hannah said “I really am passionate about veterinary medicine and helping animals, and I might not have discovered this passion if I hadn’t gone to Nashoba Tech. I’ve gotten so many fantastic opportunities to learn about and further my skills in veterinary medicine that I definitely wouldn’t have been able to have otherwise.”
