Notice to parents! All plumbing students are required to wear long pants (preferably jeans), work boots and safety glasses during their shop weeks. If students are unprepared for shop without the above items, points will be deducted from their shop grade. In addition, all plumbing students (sophomore, Juniors and seniors) are required to have a large 3 ring binder for their theory (classroom) notes. See you in September! |
All Junior and senior plumbing students are well into their September assignments. Their projects include drainage, waste and venting systems in cast iron using lead and oakum to join the cast iron pipe to the cast iron fittings. The students are also making transitions from cast iron pipe to copper DWV for waste arms. We will continue on cast iron DWV throughout the month of September. In October the senior class will focus more on domestic heating and the juniors class will branch off into gas pipe sizing and piping. |
Juniors in the Plumbing Department are presently reviewing all projects that they have been involved with throughout the school year. These students are in preperation for a final exam which will be conducted during the first shop week in June. Also, during this time, all student note books will be handed in and graded according to substance, neatness and organization. Students should be well prepared during this period to perform at a high level due to the fact that their performance may have a large impact on their final grade. |
