Educational Philosophy
At NVELC we believe in providing children with a rich variety of experiences and materials, motivated by their interests. By using an emergent- curriculum, we are able to explore subjects that are meaningful in the lives of the children we teach. Through the use of natural materials, children are provided the opportunity to discover, investigate and represent their learning in ways that feels right to each individual child.
This representation may take place through artistic expression such as painting or sculpture, or it may take shape as a dictated story or play. Other children may use music, photography or dance to express themselves.
Our curriculum includes a balance of free and spontaneous play and structured activities facilitated by experienced teachers. In the school’s engaging, stimulating environment, children will have the opportunity to build friendships, make connections with teachers and student teachers and lay the foundation for academic learning.

We believe that learning for young children (all children!) should be joyful and meaningful. It is our goal to instill a life-long love for learning in each child we teach.
