![]() About the Vikings The Nashoba Tech Boys and Girls Track and Field Teams are among the most exciting and fastest growing athletic teams in school history. The 2011 team features more than 60 male and female athletes competing in a variety of running, jumping, and throwing disciplines. Track & Field is one of the most competitive at Nashoba Tech. The Viking Track Team has been competing in the Colonial Athletic League, where they have finished third the past two years. Coaches Kelly and Sullivan strive for excellence in their athletes with competitive but fun practices that lead to an easy transition for meets. The boys and girls track teams compete in 8-10 meets per year which culminates with an exciting, season ending trip to the State Vocational Track meet in early June. Despite being depleted due to April vacation, the Lady Vikings nearly pulled off an amazing upset. Lady Vikings win Season Opener! The Lady Vikings pulled off a season opening victory over league rival Monty Tech in their first meet of the season. Several athletes won their events outright in the impressive victory. The men's team also performed well dispite their youth. Several standout competitors stepped up for the Vikings. 2010 Team News! May 25th 2010 Vikings make History at Mass State Voc Meet! On a day that saw temperatures soar into the 90's, the Vikings girls caught fire for their best finish ever at states. The Viking girls finished 6th with 37 total points including a first place finish for Cindy Ralls, who threw for over 100', seconds by Christina Wetzel - 800, Molly Callbeck - 100H, and Bri Lumbert - 1 mile. And several other girls medal-ed. The boys team finished strong as well with several Vikings boys winning medals in a variety of events, including Piper - disc, Cooper - 400, Alexander - mile. The Vikings Boys and girls track teams shocked many in attendance by putting up their strongest showing when it mattered the most. The boy's 5th place finish in the CAL proved that their team is one to be reckoned with. While the Nashoba girls team finished an incredible 3rd in the field of eight. This is the strongest Nashoba girls performance ever at the league meet. Highlights include a record setting day for Christina Wetzel, first place finishes for Cindy Ralls, Molly Callbeck, and silvers for Marlayna Richards, and Athena Scarmias. Wetzel set the marks in winning the 800 (2:30.70) and finishing second in the triple jump (29-2). Cindy Ralls (javelin) and Molly Callbeck (100 hurdles) also won events for Nashoba Tech. Parker School of Ayer was the boys champion and its girls were second, trailing only Blackstone Valley. Boys champs for Parker were Keith Rossi (2 mile), Gabe Ferreira (mile), Rocky Ethier (400) and Matt Hotaling (800). Parker's girls champion was Kate Swanson in the 2 mile and its 4x400 team. May 17th 2010 Lady Vikings Pull Off Amazing Victory over Whittier Tech! The Lady Vikings pulled off a huge win over Whittier Tech by the slimmest of margins on Monday afternoon. The meet, originally scored as a loss due to a scoring error, featured incredible performances by a number of Viking athletes. Super Senior Captain Christina Wetzelaccomplished an amazing feet by setting 3 ALL-Time Vikings girls marks in a single day. Wetzel, normally an 800 and 2 mile stand-out, won the 400 and mile in record times, and broke her own triple jump record to cap her day. The Viking men also turned in impressive performances while dominating the running events, only to come up just short in the field. Other standouts included personal bests by Bryant Cooper, wins by Molly Callbeck, Dustin Richards, Brandon Rouleau, and CJ Dumais, and a big 2 mile victory by Kyra Lasorsa and Senior Captain Katie Callbeck. Marlena Richards' win in the shot-put, originally scored for Whittier, sealed the win. See complete results official results section. May 11th 2010 Vikings Fall to Blackstone, but many set Personal Bests! Though the Vikings fell toColonial Athletic League rival Blackstone Valley, many athletes scored season, personal, and even All Time Records. Among the standouts were Senior Captain Christina, who set an All Time marks in the triple jump and the two mile. Senior Captain Molly Callbeck also set a season mark for the 400Hurdles, and Dustin Richards set a 2010 team best in the two mile. May 6th 2010 Vikings Cruise Past Assabet The Nashoba Tech Vikings turned in a terrific performance against CAL rival Assabet Valley of Marlboro in Chelmsford on Thursday. The Viking boys team defeated the Assabetboys team withhuge performances by a number of runners. Meanwhile the girls turned in an equally impressive performance against the talented Assabet girls in a close loss. Many Vikings turned in personal bests. Stay tuned for the official results! April 16th 2010 Nashoba Track Breaks Through in Worcester! The NashobaTech Boys and Girls Track Teams broke through witha pair of big wins over fellow Colonial Athletic League rival Worcester Tech in Worcester on Friday. The teams braved the elements, which included wind and freezing rain, to cruise to impressive league wins. The wins represent the first of the season for boththegirls and boys teams. "I was very pleased with the way our athletes stepped up today, especially the captains", said a happy coach Kelly. "The captains lead the way, and everyone else followed suit." Nashoba'steamspirit was also on display as everyone cheered one another on to victory. Many athletes competed in events they had no experience in, all with the goal of helping the team.
