WESTFORD — Elizabeth Baldwin and Tyler Kloppenburg, both Townsend residents, were selected as June’s Athletes of the Month at Nashoba Tech.

Elizabeth Baldwin, daughter of Michael and Jaima Baldwin, is a
freshman who plays girls lacrosse in the spring and is a cheerleader in fall and winter. She is an honor-roll student in the Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing program.

Athletic Director Robert Callahan wrote: “Lizzy saw significant playing time all year as a freshman. On top of that, she stepped in about halfway through the season and played goalie for the rest of the year when the starting goalie was injured. Lizzy is a three-season athlete who always puts the team before the individual.”

Tyler Kloppenburg, son of Frank and Nancy Kloppenburg, is a junior
center fielder and pitcher for the baseball team who led the team in batting average (.351), hits (22) and RBIs (20), and was the winning pitcher in five of the 10 wins this spring, helping the Vikings earn a spot in the postseason. Tyler is an honor-roll student in the Carpentry program at Nashoba Tech.

Baseball coach Patrick Miele wrote: “Tyler was an intricate part of a
6-1 run that put the Vikings in the postseason. He has developed from a limited role player to an impact player and leader with his work ethic, and clearly has enjoys baseball and his teammates, all while still practicing and playing with intensity, effort and accountability. He spends the summer staying sharp by playing in the Division 1 Elite Baseball League as a member of the New England Reds.”
