WESTFORD — Taylor Rajaniemi of Pepperell and Patrick White of Chelmsford have been selected as May’s Athletes of the Month at Nashoba Tech.

Taylor Rajaniemi, daughter of Kelly Ferguson, is a junior pitcher for the softball team. She is an honor-roll student in the Early Childhood Education program and a Kick-Off Mentor, helping new students get accustomed to Nashoba Tech.

Softball coach Dan Ford wrote: “Taylor did 90 percent of the pitching this year and battled her way through a couple of injuries, never once complaining. She also was one of the team’s top hitters. Because we lost a lot of players to graduation, we had a team with seven players new to the varsity. Taylor stepped forward and took them under her wing to help them learn and progress. She consistently demonstrated a positive attitude to the entire team, even when things were not going especially well.”

Patrick White, son of Robert and Chris White, is a junior midfielder/attack and captain for the boys lacrosse team, which qualified for the state tournament this year. He also plays center for the hockey team. Patrick is an honor-roll student in the Carpentry/Cabinetmaking program. He works for a local construction company through Nashoba Tech’s school-to-career Cooperative Education program, and hopes to attend college after graduation.

Lacrosse coach John Paolilli wrote: “Patrick is the driving force of our lacrosse team and just flat-out loves to compete. He has grown into the leadership position, and his teammates look up to him with respect, which he gives in return. He also shows great sportsmanship on the field.”
